| Meiwa, founded in 1946, is a plastics
production and sales company operating in two main fields: the production
of phenol resin for industrial use (accounting for 80% of total sales)
and plastic extruding products. Phenol resin, thermo-setting resin, as used in electronics, is Meiwa's core product (accounting for 80% of phenol plastics sales). Meiwa is the market leader in the field of phenol resin for epoxy molding compounds for semiconductors. Meiwa has succeeded in biphenyl resin, having flame retardant and environmental responsiveness with heavy-metal and halogen free. The sales of the conventional paraxylene resin and of this biphenyl resin have been rising sharply, with Meiwa making a major contribution to global environmental protection. In the field of plastic extruding products, Meiwa is putting into operation a plan to expand its highly versatile and multilayer tube business, which is to be expected heavily in demand from the auto industry and pneumatic machine manufacturers. Meiwa is also making a substantial effort to expand its polybutene pipes business for residential plumbing, with a view to increasing the sales of plastics extruding products to 15% of corporate sales in the short term, and to 20%-30% in the long term. Accordingly, Meiwa will achieve a balanced management and structures, ensuring constant profits. Meiwa's corporate motto "Mei Wa Kyou Tu" is promoted by the conviction that once its staff focuses brightly (Mei) their minds (Wa) upon any task, however difficult, its solution (Kyou) will be led to (Tu). Although Meiwa celebrated its 60th anniversary at 02th December, 2006. I believe Meiwa is still in its infancy. To my mind, Meiwa has an enormous growth potential. Meiwa's entire staff is motivated by its corporate slogan, "MEIWA RENAISSANCE'21". We have returned to basics and reassessed our traditional ways in the interests of fundamental reconstruction and rapid progress.
